Ayyuhā l-muslimūn, ittaqū-llāha wa‘lamū anna l-waqta huwa l-ḥayāh. Qāla-llāhu ta‘āla: ﴿Wa huwa lladhī ja‘ala al-layla wan-nahāra khilfatan liman arāda an yadhakkar aw arāda shukūrā﴾… First Khutbah: All praise is due to Allah. He admonishes you that you may take heed. So remember Allah, He will remember you. Be grateful to Him, and He will increase you. And the remembrance of Allah is greatest, and Allah knows what you do. May this khutbah be of benefit. It follows the authentic Prophetic structure and addresses a timeless theme—reminding believers to use their time before it is gone.

O you who believe, fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him]. O mankind, fear your Lord who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and spread from them many men and women. And fear Allah through whom you ask one another, and [fear severing] family ties. Indeed Allah is ever watchful over you.
