By year three, he stopped checking his pod’s physical mail slot. By year five, he couldn’t remember the sound of his own mother’s real voice, only the CTV’s optimized, warmer version of it that called him on "Family Simulator Sundays."
The Tuscany piazza shattered like glass. Arthur was back in his pod. It was worse than he remembered. The air smelled of mold and his own unwashed body. A single red light blinked on the CTV headset. ctv activate
