Meanwhile, insurance often covers only one pen size per month. If you need 0.75 mg, you either waste the extra (drawing from a 1.0 mg pen and discarding) or you split doses using click counting.
This method has been anecdotally reported to reduce dropout rates from ~15% to under 5% in small patient groups. In the US, a 2 mg (yellow) pen often costs the same as a 1 mg (blue) pen under insurance copays. But out-of-pocket? A yellow pen might be $900 for 8 mg, while a blue pen is $900 for 4 mg.
